So I'm torn. On the one hand they where delicious. On the other hand, it seemed like an overwhelming amount of icing… Thoughts?

According to my wife, professional icing sous, that is the perfect amount.

I grew up in a half container of the cardboard tube icing household. Boy how did she show me the error of my ways.

    Well done, recipie pls.

Maybe a bit much, but it’s not crazy.

No. Gotta have all that extra to cover the sides when you pull them out

  4. You can NEVER have too much icing. Weirdos who don’t like it can scrape it off.

But that’s about what mine look like as long as you have extra for dipping.

I make mine with heavy cream and cream cheese so it has the extra fluffy quality too.

r/brandnewsentence IMO, there can never be enough.

Did someone imply it was too much? Disown them.

I can still see a cinnamon roll so it’s not enough

  8. I feel like it’s too much. A good cinnaroll will already be very moist. With that much icing, if warmed it’ll be nearly soggy.

Yes. Those are very bad for you. Send them here. We will take the bullet for you!

  10. I’ll taste test them for you and let you know 🙋

It’s more than I’d like, but then, I don’t have to eat it all. I don’t have much of a sweet tooth, in full honesty, so I’d take half of one on those, scrape half the icing off, and walk away smiling.

    First picture: not even close

    Second picture: 😱

My teeth hurt just looking at it.

  13. It appears I’m in the minority that thinks photo 1 is the perfect amount

JFC, those look good . Thats what my pants looking like right now

  15. Looks like the rolls my mom used to make growing up. So they look perfect to me 😉

  16. Lavmaemor

I cannot weigh in until I’ve eaten half the pan, sorry

Are they good without icing? Then doesn’t matter how much icing, it’s subjective.

Are they not good without icing? Then doesn’t matter how much icing, it makes them better.

This is a weirdly good visual example of how much context matters. All together in the pan, it immediately looks like too much frosting. The one by itself looks absolutely perfect (like “platonic ideal of a cinnamon roll” perfect, good job, damn).

Since you (probably) eat one at a time, it’s the perfect amount of frosting.

Any icing is too much for me, but hey it’s your baking not mine! Plus they look good.

Can one put too much icing on a cinnamon bun? Asking for a friend

  21. SagebrushID

I just pulled a batch out of the oven 1 minute ago. Will be dousing them with frosting in about 10 minutes. I hope I made enough frosting to make them look as good as yours!

This is the correct amount of icing 😂

  23. If there’s too much icing on these buns for you, please send them my way 🙏!

  24. Nibblefritz

Pretty sure this needs an NSFW tag because that’s just making me think of all the dirty things I’d do with those rolls.

  25. Outrageous_Border688

Perfect amount of icing. They look amazing!

  26. Dogmoto2labs

I can see the rolls, so I would say no, not overdone.

  27. fuzzius_navus

I prefer them sans frosting – those buns looked great.

However, a thin coating of cream cheese frosting is a treat u appreciate.

Like the words you are using make sense to me, but not in the way you used them. Is it possible to “overdo the icing?” Ever?
